After 4 hours and 21 minutes of baseball on a beautiful night, the State College Spikes defeated the West Virginia Black Bears, 5-2 in 15 innings before 2,692 fans at Monongalia County Ballpark.

It was a frustrating loss for Black Bears' fans, as the Black Bears stranded 18 runners on base and struck out 19 times. The Black Bears led 2-1 until

Sandy Santos went 2 for 5 and drove in both Black Bears' runs. He is batting .333 in his last ten games with 1 home run and 5 RBI. On the down side, he dropped a routine fly ball in the 12th and has a sub-par fielding percentage of .911 this season.

State College Spikes'
Scott Hurst homered in the 15th to give the Spikes the 5-2 win. Hurst was a third round pick this year by the Cardinals out of California-Fullerton.

With the loss, the Black Bears (33-23) lead the Mahoning Valley Scrappers (30-24) by two games in the Pinckney Division. State College (30-26) is three games back.
