Hudson Valley scored one run in the first inning on an single by Deion Tansel. Angel Perez hit a two run home run in the second to give the Renegades the lead, 3-0. They added a run in the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly by Rafelin Lorenzo. Andy Diaz got Staten Island on the board in the sixth with a home run and the Yankees trailed 4-1. Hudson Valley added three more runs in the seventh inning on a bases loaded double by Zacrey Law.
Renegades starting pitcher Brendan McKay held the Yankees scoreless thru five innings, giving up one hit and striking out six for the win. Losing pitcher Juan De Paula struggled on the mound for Staten Island, giving up four runs on seven hits in 3.1 innings.
The Renegades will play the Vermont Lake Monsters for the New York-Penn League Championship. The best of three game series begins on Wednesday, September 13, at Dutchess County Stadium in Wappingers Falls, New York.
