Morning Report for Thursday, August 16, 2018

NY-Penn League News Photo
All-Star game: My wife and I had a great time at the New York-Penn League All-Star game at State College on April 14. The State College Spikes organization did an outstanding job hosting the event, which was attended by 3,048 fans. The South defeated the North 7-1, and Ross Adolph of the Brooklyn Cyclones received the game's Most Valuable Player award. Read more here.

Who's hot and who's not: Regular season play resumed last night and 20 games remain before the playoffs. The Auburn Doubledays swept Mahoning Valley in a doubleheader yesterday and are now tied with the Scrappers in the Pinckney Division with a 32-24 record. The Brooklyn Cyclones has won five in a row and moved within two games of Hudson Valley in the McNamara Division. The Renegades have lost two games in a row.  Tri-City has won three in a row and the ValleyCats lead the Stedler Division by 3.5 games. Although the West Virginia Black Bears have won four in a row, they remain in the cellar of the Pinckney Division with the worst record in the league (22-35). They will have to finish the season without the Pittsburgh Pirates number one draft pick, Travis Swaggerty, who was promoted to the West Virginia Power after appearing in Tuesday's All-Star game.
