Yesterday, Major League Baseball celebrated
"Jackie Robinson Day" on the anniversary of his first regular season game with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947.
During our spring training trip this year, we stopped in Daytona Beach so my wife could attend a quilters convention. I had an entire afternoon to walk over to Jackie Robinson Ballpark, home of the
Daytona Tortugas of the Class A
Florida State League. Opened on June 4, 1914, it is the fourth oldest ballpark still in use in professional baseball. The ballpark was renamed after Jackie Robinson in 1989.
It is a recommended stop, if you are ever in the Daytona Beach area. The Tortugas play a 135 game season. Ticket information is at this
