He was signed by the Minnesota Twins in 1962 as an amateur free agent after playing baseball and basketball at the University of Dayton. Roggenburk pitched in 20 games for Erie in 1962 (13-4, 2.07 ERA, 1.115 WHIP). He played in the major leagues during five seasons with the Minnesota Twins (1963, '65), Boston Red Sox (1966, '68-'69), and Seattle Pilots (1969).
After he retired as a player, Roggenburk coached at Cleveland State University 1972-78). He was the general manager of the Winter Haven Red Sox (1978-83), and a pitching coach in the New York-Penn League with the Elmira Pioneers (1991-92) and Utica Blue Sox (1993-94).
Roggenburk is in the University of Dayton Athletics Hall of Fame and the Ohio Basketball Hall of Fame.
