Today in New York-Penn League History: The league opens its 24th season on April 28, 1962. 

There were six teams in two states (you guessed it, New York and Pennsylvania) in the league that year, located in Auburn (Mets), Batavia (Pirates), Erie (Sailors), Geneva (Reds), Jamestown (Tigers), and Olean (Red Sox).

The 81st season opens on June 14, 2019. The league is now made up of 14 teams in eight states (New York, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maryland, Ohio, and West Virginia).

Rosters won't be set until after the Major League Draft that begins on June 3, 2019.
