New York Penn League Birthdays - March 9

Here is a list of former New York-Penn League prospects who were born on March 9. Click on the names to link to more information at Baseball Reference.

Mike Turgeon (Geneva Cubs, 1978). Born in 1956. Played in 70 games at Geneva (10 HR, 48 RBI, .344/.416/..547). He played six seasons in the minor leagues.

Brian Butterfield (Oneonta Yankees, 1979). Born in 1958. Played five seasons in the minor leagues and managed the Oneonta Yankees in 1989. He also coached in the major leagues for the New York Yankees, Arizona Diamondbacks, Toronto Blue Jays, Boston Red Sox, and currently the Chicago Cubs.

Ender Chavez (Brooklyn Cyclones, 2002-03, '07). Born in 1981. Chavez played seven seasons in the minor leagues.

Craig Stammen (Vermont Expos, 2005). Born in 1984. He has played nine seasons in the majors with the Washington Nationals (2009-15) and the San Diego Padres (2017-present).

Jesse Litsch (Auburn Doubledays, 2005). Born in 1985. Litsch played five seasons in the majors with the Toronto Blue Jays (2007-11).

Jonah Nickerson (Oneonta Tigers, 2006). Born in 1985. Nickerson played four seasons in the minor leagues.

Shane Dyer (Hudson Valley Renegades, 2008). Born in 1988.  He played seven seasons in the minor leagues.

Jared Lakind (Jamestown Jammers, 2013-14). Born in 1992. He played five seasons in the minors.
