Sullivan played in the major leagues during 5 seasons with the Detroit Tigers (1963-65), New York Mets (1967) and Philadelphia Phillies (1968).
After
his retired as a player, he was a successful minor league manager
(1973-78), winning four league championships in six seasons with the
Kansas City Royals organization. He was a major league coach for Atlanta
Braves (1980-81), and the Toronto Blue Jays (1982-93).
