Former PONY (New York-Penn) League prospect Jack Meyer was born on the date in 1932. He pitched for the 1951 Bradford Phillies (6-2, 5.01 ERA).

Meyer played for the Philadelphia Phillies during 7 seasons (1955-61). He led the National League in saves in 1955 with 16.

He died of a heart ailment on March 6, 1967 at the age of 34.
