Former New York-Penn League manager Ed Sadowski was born on this date in 1931. He managed the Jamestown Falcons to a record of 25-44 in 1971.
He played in the majors during 5 seasons with the Boston Red Sox (1960), Los Angeles Angels (1961-63), and Atlanta Braves (1966). Prior to managing at Jametown, he managed the West Palm Beach Expos in the Florida State League in 1968 and the Gulf Coast League Expos in 1969.
His brothers Bob and Ted and nephew Jim Sadowski all played in majors.
Sadowski died on November 6, 1993, at the age of 63.
