Monbouquette pitched in the majors for 11 seasons with the Boston Red Sox (1958-65), Detroit Tigers (1966-67), New York Yankees (1967-68) and San Francisco Giants (1968).
After his playing career, he managed and coached in the minors and was the New York Mets' pitching coach 1982 and '83. He returned to the New York-Penn League, coaching for the St. Catharines Stompers (1997), Oneonta Yankees (2000-05) and Lowell Spinners (2006).
He died on January 25, 2015, at the age of 78.
