Happy 57th Birthday to former New York-Penn League prospect Ellis Burks. He played for the Elmira Pioneers in 1983 (53 games, 2 HR, 23 RBI, .241/.313/.328).

Burks went on to play 18 seasons in Major League Baseball with the Boston Red Sox (1987-92, 2004), Chicago White Sox (1993), Colorado Rockies (1994-98), San Francisco Giants (1998-2000), and Cleveland Indians (2001-03). He hit 352 career home runs and was a two time All-Star.
In 2002, Burks was inducted into the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame.
