He played 20 seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers (1974-93) finishing his career with 3,142 hits. During his career, he was a two time American League MVP, and was named Major League player of the year in 1982. He was on the American League All-Star team in 1980, '82 and '83. During his career he was awarded one Gold Gloves (1982) and three Silver Sluggers (1980, '82, '89). He played in one World Series (1982) when the Brewers lost to the St. Louis Cardinals.
He was selected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1999 and the New York-Penn League Hall of Fame in 2012.
