Former PONY League prospect and manager Russ Kerns was born on this date in 1920. He played two seasons for the Jamestown Falcons (1946-47) and was a player/manager for the 1948 Hornell Maples. 

Kerns played in one game for the 1945 Detroit Tigers. 

After his baseball career, he worked in construction in California. Kerns died on August 21, 2000, at the age of 79.
