Today's Birthday: Leo Thomas, Olean Oilers (1942)

Former Pennsylvania-Ontario-New York (PONY) League prospect Leo Thomas was born on this date in 1923. He played for the Olean Oilers in 1942.

After serving in the United States Navy during World War II, he played in the majors for the St. Louis Browns (1950, '52), and Chicago White Sox (1952).

After his baseball career, he worked as a bartender in the San Francisco, California area. Thomas died on March 5, 2001, at the age of 77.
