Happy Birthday (40th) to former New Jersey Cardinals prospect Joe Mather. He played in the New York-Penn League during two seasons for New Jersey (2003-04).

Mather played in the majors for the St. Louis Cardinals (2008, '10), Atlanta Braves (2011), Chicago Cubs (2012).

After he retired as a player, he managed and coached in the minor leagues, and then coached for the Cincinnati Reds. He is currently the hitting coach for the Arizona Diamondbacks.
