Happy Birthday to former New York-Penn League prospect Joe Pepitone, who was born on this date in 1940. He was a 17 year-old rookie with the Auburn Yankees in 1958.
Pepitone went on to a 12 year major league career with the New York Yankees (1962-69), Houston Astros (1970), Chicago Cubs (1970-73), and Atlanta Braves (1973).
He coached for the New York Yankees in 1982.
