Former PONY League prospect Jim Greengrass was born on this date in 1927. He played for the Wellsville Yankees in 1944 and 1945.

Greengrass played for the Cincinnati Reds (1952-55) and Philadelphia Phillies (1955-56).

After his baseball career, he was a deputy sheriff in Cobb County, Georgia. Greengrass died on September 9, 2019, at the age of 91.
