Former Pennsylvania-Ontario-New York (PONY) League prospect Jerry Zimmerman was born on this date in 1934. He played for the 1954 Corning Red Sox.

Zimmerman played in the majors during 8 seasons for the Cincinnati Reds (1961) and Minnesota Twins (1962-68). He was one of the original coaches for the Montreal Expos (1969-75) and coached for the Minnesota Twins from 1976 to 1980.

He died on September 9, 1998, at the age of 63.
