Happy Birthday (56th) to former New York-Penn League prospect Tim Wakefield. He played for the Watertown Pirates in 1989.

Wakefield went on to play in the majors during 19 seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates (1992-93), and Boston Red Sox (1995-2011). During his career, he was named the Comeback Player of the Year in 1995, was an American League All-Star (2009), and was on two World Series Champions (2004 & 2007 with the Boston Red Sox (he did not play in the 2007 World Series).
