Former PONY (New York-Penn) League prospect Babe Birrer was born on this date in 1929. He pitched for the Jamestown Falcons in 1947 (8-2, 1.69 ERA)
He played in the majors for the Detroit Tigers (1955), Baltimore Orioles (1956) and Los Angeles Dodgers (1958).
Birrer died on November 19, 2013 at the age of 83.
