Road Trip: Cost Comparision between a trip to Pittsburgh or Altoona

Peoples Natural Gas Field - Altoona, PA

It's time to make plans for the annual road trip to see a ballgame. An upcoming road trip by the West Virginia Black Bears (where I attend most New York-Penn League games) was a good window of time to make plans. Both the Pirates and Curve (The AA Eastern League farm team of the Pirates) are at home during the Black Bears road trip.

Financially, it is a no brainer. Also, I'll get to see several former Black Bears as they progress thru the system on their "road to the show". Peoples Natural Gas Field in Altoona is one of my favorite minor league stadiums.

Here is a breakdown of costs. Seats are in a comparable location.

Game at PNC Park on August 5, 2019: Milwaukee Brewers v. Pittsburgh Pirates

Tickets in Section 18    $215 X 2 = $430

Gateway Clipper tickets $12 X 2 = $24

Room for one night: $188 plus taxes

Total cost: $642 (plus hotel room taxes)

Game at Peoples Natural Gas Field on August 5, 2019: Richmond Flying Squirrels v. Altoona Curve

Tickets in Section 110 $13 X 2 = $26 + $3 fee = $29

Parking $4.

Room for one night: $112.27 including taxes

Total cost: $145.27

Like I said, it is a no brainer. See you at the ballpark.
