West Virginia Black Bears announce 2018 Promotion Schedule

On March 23, the West Virginia Black Bears announced their 2018 promotion schedule.

The Black Bears home opener is set for June 21 at Monongalia County Ballpark. New York-Penn League baseball is the best family friendly entertainment value in North Central West Virginia. Get ticket information at this link.

Here is a list of promotions by date. Not much new from previous seasons, but I recommend you mark your calendars for the West Virginia Moonshiners series on July 17,18 & 19, and the Kevin Newman Bobblehead Night on July 26.

Kevin Newman (MiLB.com)

Newman was the Pirates first round pick in 2015 out of the University of Arizona. After receiving a $2.175 million signing bonus, he played in 38 games (.226/.281/.340) for the Black Bears before being promoted to the West Virginia Power in the South Atlantic League. Newman has progressed rapidly and was a non-roster invitee to the Pirates spring training camps in Bradenton prior to the 2017 and 2018 seasons. He will start this season with the AAA Indianapolis Indians.
