He coached for the Minnesota Twins beginning in 1971 and managed them during 4 seasons (1972-75). He later was the Twins radio broadcaster for several seasons.

Quilici died on May 14, 2018, at the age of 79.

After his playing career, he managed in the minor leagues for 10 seasons. Mejias coached for the Seattle Mariners (1993-99), and Baltimore Orioles (2007)
